Nutrition Education

Nutrition Education is Key

Nutrition education is key to influencing the health of the community we serve. Second Harvest Food Bank offers an array of programming to promote and support the distribution of healthy foods. Programming includes safe food handling training, workshops for feeding partner staff and volunteers, cooking demonstrations, and classes for children and adults at feeding partner sites.

We also utilize the opportunity to promote healthy food choices in our Feeding Partner Lobby and Distribution Center, by highlighting available fresh produce and budget-friendly recipes, in addition to offering tasty food samples. Click here to view our nutrition position and to learn about Foods to Encourage.

Example of Nutrition Classes Offered:

  • Seniors Staying Healthy and Active
  • Eating the MyPlate Way
  • Ways to Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
  • Meal Planning Support
