Second Harvest Food Bank’s Ambassador Program aims to engage energetic and committed community volunteers in the mission and work of the Food Bank by serving as Hunger Champions in our community. Ambassadors have a passion for our community and work to promote and increase awareness of our mission and the issue of hunger in Central Florida. Ambassadors serve as advocates - growing supporters and making it easy to engage with the Food Bank!
Ambassadors help the Food Bank inspire and engage the community by serving as representatives of the Food Bank at volunteer fairs, speaking engagements, festivals, concerts, Food and Fund Drives and various other community activities and events. Ambassadors may attend events in our community during regular business hours, at night, or on the weekends. Ambassadors extend the reach of our dedicated staff and allow us to impact a larger number of people in our community.
Serving as an Ambassador is a great way to serve your community, learn more about the issue of hunger, meet new people, get-to-know Central Florida area events and organizations and generally DO GOOD!
The role of the Food Bank Ambassador is not to be an expert, but to broadly understand the mission of the Food Bank, articulate that mission to our diverse community and actively and energetically help the community connect with us – through volunteering, donating, and advocating or through direct connection to services and programs. Ambassadors commit to becoming educated about the issue of hunger in our community and the Food Bank is committed to keeping them informed by providing trainings and educational materials on the work of the Food Bank.
