Darden Foundation Community Kitchen

Fighting Hunger in the Kitchen

At Second Harvest, we are working to close the Meal Gap every day. One of the innovative ways we’re doing this is in the Darden Foundation Community Kitchen – a 2,000-square-foot commercial kitchen space in our facility designed as an integral part of Second Harvest’s holistic approach to fighting hunger and poverty.

In this dynamic space, the food bank offers:

  • A 16-week culinary training program focused on food service-based technical, life and employability skills training for adults
  • Catering for Good: an in-house, full-service catering with affordable event space available for your next event, meeting, or seminar;
  • Disaster relief meal preparation in partnership with state and community organizations.

Healthy Recipes

Eating healthy does not have to be boring or expensive. Using items already in your pantry, you can create meals that are both satisfying and provide more of the nutrients your body needs. Whether you are looking for a Meatless Monday meal or something hearty and comforting, there's a recipe for you. The best part is most of them are easy to customize with ingredients you might have in your kitchen!
