Second Harvest Food Bank relied on 39,138 volunteers last year whose hours totaled 119,765. It's pretty incredible to see so many caring individuals pass through our warehouse throughout the year.
Our various volunteer opportunities offer fun and unique ways for individuals and groups to contribute their time, talents and resources to help our neighbors facing hunger.
Each individual volunteer must register on their own. This allows us to keep accurate track of hours per volunteer.
We do not participate in any pre-trial diversion, probation, or other court/lawyer-related community service programs. Second Harvest Food Bank reserves the right to dismiss any volunteer seeking to circumvent this policy.
We will not verify community service hours for anything court-related.
The court ordered community service referral service can be found here.
Volunteers have to be at least 10 years old with a chaperone who is 18 years or older in order to help out in our facility, 16 years old without a chaperone. We also now have a "Family Night" or a "Family Day" for families with children ages 5-9 years old.
Closed toe AND closed heel shoes are REQUIRED to help out in our facility. Please wear appropriate length shorts that are not too revealing. Also, no see through shirts, spaghetti straps, or crop tops, please.
Please note that our online calendar will only show volunteer opportunities in Orange County.
If you are interested in volunteering at our Volusia or Brevard branches, please see the information below:
If you are unable to find a volunteer shift, please check back. Volunteer shifts are changing daily.
