It's incredible how a bag of groceries can change someone's outlook.

"It brightens my day when I come here," says Alfredia, who visits a local food pantry to supplement her fixed income. As caregiver to her three grandkids, she knows how important nutritious food is for growing bodies.

"I budget every dime I have on the water bill, the light bill, the mortgage. And then I can think about food," she explains. The reality of higher prices for everyday necessities is often more than her fixed income can bear.

"When I come here, I know I will see friendly faces. I know I will get fresh fruits and vegetables. I know I will have things the kids like and that I approve of, thanks to you."
