Providing nutritious food to children and families in our community is a priority for Second Harvest. We partner with Universal Orlando, Universal Orlando Foundation, local elementary and middle schools, and community sites to bring "Bites, Camera, Action!" to children and families in Orlando.
Bites, Camera, Action! is a mobile nutrition program that has distributed supplemental food to students and their families since 2012. Our School Farmers Market brings healthy food and community organizations together to promote health, education and wellness to families. Community resources, SNAP, school supplies, health screenings and more are shared with families.
In addition to the School Farmers Market, the Bites, Camera, Action! refrigerated truck is on the road each weekday delivering critically-needed nourishment where there often is none.
The success of this program would not be possible without the additional support provided by Universal employee volunteers. Universal volunteers have donated thousands of hours distributing meals to veterans, adults, families and seniors in low-income neighborhoods, and at transitional homeless sites and community resource fairs.
Together, through this partnership, we are inspiring and engaging our community to end hunger, and to help people thrive.
