To our Brothers/Sisters/Friends:
The COVID-19 Pandemic has hit the hospitality industry in Central Florida especially hard, and has led to the layoff and furlough of thousands of Union Members at Walt Disney World, including many represented by UFCW Local 1625. These Cast Members are truly the ones that make the magic happen, and are now struggling with the most basic needs, including feeding their families.
The UFCW began as a union representing grocery store workers - and as we considered how we could help, assisting those facing economic hardship put food on their table was the way we could make a real difference. That is why we are launching this virtual food drive.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that has distributed over 41 million meals since the pandemic began. Through a powerful hunger relief network spanning 6 counties: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia, they are currently supporting Disney Cast Members and their families.
Food insecurity is real, and even the smallest donation can go a long way. This is a great way to support your fellow Union members, and we also urge our friends, families and everyone who loves Disney, to help make the holidays a little brighter for these employees in their time of need.
We all look forward to better days, for our members, our community and the world. Until then, please help by filling up your shopping cart!
THANK YOU!
