300,000 Meals Provided Daily

Families are facing more hunger and uncertainty than ever before. Rising costs are forcing Central Florida families to choose between food and rent, food and medicine, or food and gas to get to work. Right now, many people in our community are one choice away from being able to survive.

Thanks to your support, more than 300,000 meals are being provided every day to our seven-county coverage area. Your support of Second Harvest Food Bank helps close the gap of un-met need in our community in the following ways:

A Mobile Mission

A Mobile Mission

Your support allows Second Harvest to fill a semi-truck with nutritious, fresh food two or three times a day and drive it to under-served communities and food deserts. Neighbors are able to line up their cars at these mobile food drops and receive a variety of shelf-stable foods, fresh produce, meat, bread and dairy items loaded into their cars by volunteers.

"There are days when I don’t know what we’re going to do. But tonight, we’re having spaghetti and a big salad,” said Sylvia. "Thank you for being there for me and my family."

Access to Nutrition Meals

Access to Nutrition Meals

Families trying to stretch a limited budget often remove fresh, healthy items from their shopping carts replacing it with calorie-dense and nutritionally-deficient food. This approach might keep the pantry stocked, but it can lead to chronic, diet-related diseases. Second Harvest helps increase access to healthy foods to provide well-rounded meals.

"This week they had apples, sweet potatoes, squash, greens and strawberries all things I love!," says Steve, a local senior at a Second Harvest Feeding Partner.

Fight Childhood Hunger

Through school markets, students are able to take home simple meals like taco dinner kits, beans and rice, canned soups, snacks and even fresh produce during the school year.

"You might not see the need in your neighborhood, but I do," explains Amy, a family engagement coordinator at a local school. "Kids don’t learn when they are hungry."

Your trust and generosity make our relief efforts possible. But the work is far from complete. Thousands of families, kids and seniors experience hunger, with all signs pointing towards needs increasing in 2023. Thank you for trusting us with this important work and joining us in the fight against hunger.
